Insert and edit Flash (.swf), Windows Media, and other media files
You insert Flash SWF files (*.swf file extension) and Windows Media files (*.asf, *.wm, *wma, *wmv, *.wmd, and others) into a web page in Microsoft Expression Web by using either the Toolbox task pane or the Insert menu. For information about the file formats supported by the Windows Media Player, see Windows Media Player multimedia file formats on the Microsoft website.
You can also insert these and other types of media by typing code in the Code view of the web page. Note
When you open a web page that contains media other than Flash SWF or Windows Media, you may receive a warning that the page contains an unknown or unsigned ActiveX control. For more information, see Security and ActiveX controls.
To insert a Flash SWF or Windows Media file from the Toolbox task pane
In the Toolbox task pane, expand the HTML and Media categories.
Do one of the following:
Drag either the Flash Movie or Windows Media Player icon into your open page.
In either the Design view or Code view of your page, put your cursor where you want the media to appear. In the Toolbox task pane, either double-click the Flash Movie or Windows Media Player icon or right-click the Flash Movie or Windows Media Player icon and then click Insert.
In the Select Media File dialog box, select your Flash (.swf) file or Windows Media file and then click Insert.
To insert a Flash SWF or Windows Media file from the Insert menu
In either the Design view or Code view of your page, put your cursor where you want the media to appear.
On the Insert menu, point to Media, and then click either Flash Movie or Windows Media Player.
In the Select Media File dialog box, select your Flash (.swf) file or Windows Media file and then click Insert.
To edit media properties
In your web page, select the Flash (.swf) file, Windows Media file, or ActiveX control you want to edit.
To edit any HTML properties, in the Tag Properties task pane, set the properties you want.
To edit properties that are unique to the file format of the selected media and also common HTML properties, do any of the following:
In Design view, either double-click the file or right-click the file and select Flash SWF Properties or ActiveX Control Properties.
On the Format menu, click Properties.
Either double-click the <object> tag in the quick tag selector bar at the top of the page or right-click the <object> and click Tag Properties.
In the Tag Properties task pane, click the Show Tag Properties button.
The Flash SWF Properties dialog appears for Flash (.swf) files; the Windows Media Player Properties dialog appears for Windows Media files. For information about the properties of these file formats, see Set Flash SWF properties and Set Windows Media properties.
